Cyclocross – it’s partly about bike racing, and partly about hanging out with some awesome people, ringing, cowbell, heckling, drinking some beer, and having boatloads of fun. And the 2012 End of Season Cyclocross Party was no different. Racers from across the state gathered at Grey’s Tied House, a brewpub just minutes from the State Championships course at Redden Park in Verona. Partygoers mingled, enjoyed the Tied House’s brews and sodas, grooved to the musical stylings of DJ Ramsey Renno (you may remember him from Cross the Domes), and cheered on their fellow races who won Series Overall Awards!
Masters of Ceremony Brian Rybarik and Greg Ferguson presented winners with Overall Series Champ jerseys and a delicious loaf of bread (gluten free for some) from The Bread Bard/Silly Yak Bakery. Monique Karlan’s artistic trophies made from welded bicycle parts (you might remember the ooo’s and aah’s last year) were delayed but are being delivered to their rightful owners and are well worth the wait- this is one you will want to display!
The wildly popular Cyclist Choice Awards were back again for a second year, and given out in an expanded number of categories. Racers voted on their favorites in individual, team and promoter categories. Winners, listed below, took home a Greys Tied House Sampler Pack of beer and a certificate.
Thanks to everyone who came out and celebrated another fantastic Wisconsin Cyclocross Season. And to everyone who made the season so great, from promoters, to racers, to fans and spectators. See you all in September!
